Leaky Gut Syndrome
Intestinal permeability or Leaky Gut Syndrome is the term used to describe a situation where the lining of the gut has become damaged, allowing things which would normally be contained within the gut to leak into the bloodstream. Leaky Gut Syndrome can be caused by candidiasis, where the yeast Candida albicans burrows through the gut wall, causing increased permeability. The food which leaks into the bloodstream is then attacked by the immune system, which becomes overloaded. At the bottom of this page you will find links to independent articles on Leaky Gut Syndrome.
